Mystery Lesson
I utilized the learning strategy called "Mystery Making" for developing this lesson. It is designed to work by giving learners a series of "clues", which are the information and skills they would need to solve the mystery, which is to deduce the objectives of the lesson on their own.

In this lesson, students were learning about space planning in interior design through solving a mystery about an old abandoned hotel where the space planning had gone wrong.

Elements and Principles of Design
This lesson was designed with the intention of helping pupils not only learn about the elements and principles of design but to also have them come to understand how they relate and work together and that their overarching purpose is to create differing moods or atmospheres within a space.

"Mrs. Tietjen has promising leadership potential. Last year our principal approached Anna and asked her to try a new teaching strategy called, Whole Brain Teaching. She not only agreed to research this methodology and give it a “try”, but she also taught district level classes about it during our Professional Development trainings. She attended a conference about Whole Brain Teaching in Las Vegas, Nevada during the summer of 2017, and paid all the expenses out of her own funds."

Windows, Walls, and Flooring
I decided to use the ARCS Motivational Design method for this lesson because I know this modality helps learners to engage more with the material. I also wanted to use something fun and creative, so I had them design ads for a fictional house remodeling company to further internalize the concepts of the lesson.
